Crime Stoppers Featured Case #17-12 – Felony Hit and Run

The Portland Police Bureau, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public’s help to solve a hit and run that injured a Southeast Portland woman.

On February 25, 2017, at approximately 9:08 p.m., East Precinct and Traffic Division officers responded to Southeast 51st Avenue and Division Street on the report of a hit and run that injured 48-year-old Andrea Saffaie-Castro (first name is pronounced SAH-FYE).

Officers and medical personnel arrived and located Saffaie-Castro suffering from traumatic injuries. Saffaie-Castro was transported by ambulance to a Portland hospital for treatment and is continuing to recover from her injuries. Saffaie-Castro’s 12-year-old son was with her at the time of the crash but was seated inside the car and not injured.

Officers learned that Saffaie-Castro parked her car on the north side of Division Street and exited her vehicle, when she was struck by a vehicle being driven westbound on Division. The driver of the suspect vehicle did not stop after the crash.

The suspect vehicle is described as a white, newer model extended cab pickup, lifted, with a chromed rack behind the cab. The pickup was towing an open utility trailer at the time of the crash.

Interested media may contact the Crime Stoppers Law Enforcement Coordinator for family contact information as Saffaie-Castro’s husband is willing to give interviews.
