CRIME STOPPERS CASE # 14-43 Pipe Bomb Explosion
The Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, are asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect who placed a pipe bomb in a Southwest Portland neighborhood.
On Wednesday October 15, 2014, Central Precinct officers and the Metropolitan Explosives Disposal Unit (MEDU) responded to the report of an explosion in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 10600 block of Southwest Capitol Highway.
The explosion damaged one vehicle but did not result in any injuries.
Bomb Techs and Arson Investigators collected evidence at the scene and determined that the damage was the result of an exploding pipe bomb.
Investigators are continuing to follow leads in this case but have not identified a suspect or a motive for the explosion.
At this time, there is no information to suggest that this incident is a hate crime or terror-related.
Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information, reported to Crime Stoppers, that leads to an arrest in this case, or any unsolved felony, and tipsters can remain anonymous.
