CRIME STOPPERS CASE # 14-34 HOMICIDE

The Portland Police Bureau’s Homicide Detail, in cooperation with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public’s help to solve the homicide of a 21-year-old woman in Southeast Portland’s Centennial Neighborhood.

On Sunday August 17, 2014, at 5:00 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the Eastwood Village Apartments, located at 15139 Southeast Powell Boulevard, on the report of a shooting.

Officers arrived in the area and learned that apartment #7 may have been the intended target. Officers located evidence of gunfire and inside the apartment located the victim, 21-year-old Ervaeua Ronchelle Herring dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Investigators have learned that there were multiple suspects firing guns at the apartment. Information available at this point in the investigation indicates that the shooting is gang-related.

On Monday August 18, 2014, the Oregon State Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Ms. Herring and determined that she was killed by gunfire. The Medical Examiner also determined that Ms. Herring was in the early stages of pregnancy at the time of her death.

The only available suspect description is multiple African American males armed with guns.

Homicide detectives are working closely with Gang Enforcement Team detectives to follow-up on any leads in this investigation.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact Homicide detectives. Anyone with second-hand information is asked to share it with police. Information learned from social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube should be shared with investigators as these tips may lead to the identification of a suspect or suspects.
